Description: Acivir 200 DT Tablet is an antiviral medication primarily used for the treatment of infections caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV) and varicella-zoster virus (VZV). Acyclovir, the active ingredient, works by inhibiting viral DNA synthesis, thereby stopping the growth and spread of the virus. It is effective in managing conditions such as genital herpes, cold sores, shingles, and chickenpox.

Dosage:

• Genital Herpes:
  • Initial episode: 200 mg taken five times daily for 10 days.
  • Recurrent episodes: 200 mg taken three times daily for 5 days or 800 mg taken twice daily for 5 days.
• Cold Sores (Herpes Labialis):
  • 200 mg taken five times daily for 5 days.
• Chickenpox (Varicella):
  • For children over the age of 6 years: 800 mg four times daily for 5 days.
• Shingles (Herpes Zoster):
  • Adults: 800 mg taken five times daily for 7 days.
